A little care. A big difference.

Hedges have a habit of growing when you’re not looking. Whether yours needs a light trim or a rethink, we’ll help get it back into shape.

Tall clipped hedge walls frame a straight gravel path.

    Hedge trimming

Keep the height, edges and overall growth under control. Ideal for routine tidy-ups, overhanging sections and hedges that have started claiming more garden than they deserve.

Low clipped hedges border a lawn leading to a wooden gate beneath mature trees.

    Hedge shaping

Straight lines, softer curves or a cleaner silhouette. We’ll discuss the finish you’re after and what suits the hedge’s species, condition and growth pattern.

    Hedge maintenance

A little attention at the right time can save a much bigger job later. Ask about one-off visits or an ongoing trimming schedule to keep things manageable.

    Why Bayside Hedging?

    Small details.
    Better-looking gardens.

We focus on hedges. Not every job in the garden, not a dozen different trades. Just the careful trimming and shaping that makes an established garden feel looked after.

A good result is about more than cutting the top flat. Height, width, access, neighbouring plants and how a hedge will grow back all matter. We’ll talk through what’s realistic rather than promise a miracle with a hedge trimmer.

We’re building Bayside Hedging around clear communication, sensible advice and pride in a neat finish. If your hedge needs a tidy-up, a reshape or a plan to stop it taking over, we’d be glad to hear from you.

    A few helpful answers.

How much does hedge trimming cost?

It depends on the hedge’s height, length, density, condition and access, as well as how much needs to come off. A quick tidy-up is different from reducing a hedge that has spent a few years doing its own thing. Send us the details and a few photos if you have them, and we’ll discuss the next step.

Can I get a quote from photos?

Photos are a great starting point. A front view, a side view and a shot showing access are helpful, but don’t overthink it. Some jobs can be discussed from photos; larger or awkward hedges may need an onsite look before we can give an accurate price.

How often should hedges be trimmed?

There’s no single rule. It depends on the plant, the season, how fast it grows and how crisp you want the shape to stay. Some hedges are happy with occasional attention; others need more frequent trims. We can suggest a sensible rhythm once we know what you’ve got.

Can you reduce the height of a tall hedge?

Often, yes, but how far it can be reduced depends on the species and its condition. Some hedges recover well from a heavier cut; others can be left patchy if pushed too far. We’ll talk through the likely result before recommending a major reduction.

Will an overgrown hedge grow back?

Usually some regrowth is expected, but not always where you want it. The species, age, health and depth of the cut matter. We’d rather explain the trade-offs than promise instant green perfection.

Do you trim hedges along fences and boundaries?

Yes, these are common enquiries. Access, neighbouring property and the space around the hedge can affect what’s practical. Let us know if there are tight paths, fences, wires or other obstacles.

    What happens to the clippings?

Clipping collection and removal should be discussed as part of the quote, because the volume of green waste can vary significantly. We’ll confirm what’s included before work is arranged.

Can I text photos instead of filling out the form?

Absolutely. Text 0406 405 112 with your name, suburb, a few photos and what you’d like done. A little context helps; botanical Latin is optional.

What time of year is best to trim a hedge?

That depends on the species, growth cycle, weather and how much cutting is needed. Light shaping and major reductions aren’t always best done at the same time. We’ll consider the plant before suggesting an approach.

Do you offer regular hedge maintenance?

That’s something we can discuss. If you’d prefer not to notice your hedge only when it starts blocking the path, ask about a recurring schedule suited to its growth.
